The HBE P+Calculator is now available as a new online-version. The P+Calculator enables you as an HBE customer or prospective customer to quickly and easily calculate bellhousings and couplings on the internet of more than 3,000 pumps from over 100 manufacturers.

For safety reasons the software is password protected. As an HBE-customer you can quickly and easily receive your personal log-in data with your customer number. But the software will also be available free of charge for new customers and other interested parties after a short data check.

Innovative Helical Screw Flow Meter

In addition to the well-known VSE model series VSI and VHM as well as ECOFLOW, the company VSE Volumentechnik GmbH now launches a new generation of helical screw flow meters of the series RS.

The VSE development department has combined this measuring principle, which by itself is not new, with the development of the new rotor sensor to yield a state-of-the-art flow meter. There was a considerable development potential because the measurement of the volume flow based on the the screw pump principle of the VSE series RS offers significant benefits:

High degree of precision that is mostly independent of viscosity
Pulsation-free measurement
Lowest pressure losses
Short response time due to innovative rotor profile and reduced masses
Gentle fluid measurements
Highest functionality due to intelligent sensor technology

The core objective of the new development initially was to create completely new rotor profiles, which had been adapted to the requirements for running an integrating motor using the latest design methods. These profiles ensure a low-resistance, high-precision measurement with optimally distributed masses that are also reduced by up to 45%. This results in a much better response characteristic in hydraulic applications- a big advantage over previously available devices.

Also in process engineering, these new types of profiles enable a low-resistance, high-precision measurement combined with the gentle transport of the measuring medium since many of the adhesives and sealants to be measured are sensitive to mechanical influences of the previously available devices.

In addition to the profile development, VSE also has optimized materials and technology concerning the bearings. The combined radial / axial roller bearing is shielded behind bearing supports shaped to be flow-optimized. Depending on size and intended use, either spindle bearings or precision ball bearings are used in tandem. Mounting is symmetrical, making it possible to operate the devices with the same loads in either flow direction. The bearings are made from tungsten carbide, and displacement flow meters are also made from silicon carbide (SSiC) for the first time. For poorly lubricated or dirty fluids, a radial / axial glide bearing made of ceramic materials is available. The combination with the corresponding rotor materials as well as optional hard coatings guarantees a long service life. The housing and rotor material can be modular graphite castings as well as roller bearing steel. All sizes are also available made from various kinds of stainless steels.

VSE also backs new developments in the area of signal formation. Based on the patented VSI high definition sensor system, a sensor module was developed that enhances the functionality of the RS flow meter significantly. The sensor itself features two GMR bridges (sin / cos) and is housed in a removable stainless steel cartridge case together with a signal conditioning and amplifier unit. It can be replaced when necessary without costly adjustment and configuration work. The sensor is adjusted automatically when being replaced.

The downstream electronics unit features a high-resolution sin / cos-interpolator, which can increase the resolution in increments up to a factor of 128 while maintaining exactly the same pulse lengths. The unit also has a variety of additional functions that significantly help users with the further processing of RS sensor signals. Among others, it features a programmable signal filter, which is able to offset unwanted, negative pulse sequences and detect and save values that exceed the indicated flow and temperature values. A separate directional signal is available for 1-channel evaluations.

It is therefore also possible to operate large-volume devices without the loss of frequency and accuracy while using low flow rates - a major advantage when operating with highly viscous or pasty as well as abrasive fluids. This means the frequency range can be adjusted and optimized for the respective measuring task. If required, flow-proportional output frequencies up to 100 kHz are possible.

Functionality can be further increased with other programmable options, for example, the flow meter can be adjusted to the respective measuring task without investing too much effort on the evaluation side.

The goal was to make a smarter flow meter to increase the functionality and lower the load on the corresponding electronic evaluation equipment of the user.

Additional functions still under development can be retrofitted subsequently using software upgrades, also on-site.

Various sizes for flow ranges of 0.1 to 1,000 l/min are available; the devices are designed for pressures up to 450 bar and suitable for temperatures of up to 120�C.

Additional options for VS series

As from April 2009, size VS 0,04 E will also be available in a wear-resistant version. Provided with full hard metal plain bearings and an optimal hard material coating, two different tolerance classes will be available for diverse viscosity ranges.

The VSI high definition pickup system and the self-protection type of protection are also available for these types. The VS sizes VS 0,02 / 0,04 / 01 E are still available ex warehouse for special requirements in the materials 1.4571 ( 316 Ti ).

Other sizes are available upon request.

VS 10 G for high temperatures

The VS 10 G will also be available as from April 2009 and it will be the largest VS volume sensor with VSE high temperature sensory technology to date. The sensory technology will hereby be installed in the spheroidal graphite cast iron devices by means of replaceable stainless steel inserts.

This enables this device to be used within a temperature range of between – 40 �C and 210�C. This does not restrict the pressure range.

This option will be offered for all VS 10 G types and can also be retrofitted in existing devices.

High-precision metering pumps for applying sealing compound

Beinlich is now supplying a customer with high-precision metering pumps for applying beads of silicon sealant and for bonding housing components together. In two-component systems, the pumps are used for media with viscosities from 5 mPas up to a highly viscous 1,000,000 mPas and reach precisions of over 90 percent at high pressure after just two revolutions. This precision, which even Swiss watchmakers can only dream of, is achieved using the latest Beinlich gear technology.

In the two-component systems, two of these metering pumps ensure the ideal mixture ratio using different volumetric displacements and different speeds for bonding plastic parts, filling with resins, or applying sealing compound.

This prevents the permeation of moisture, for example, and in electrical components, sealing compound is applied to prevent short-circuits.

In addition, the pumps are used to apply rubber-like surfaces to improve the grip. In the manufacture of mobile telephones and MP3 players for example, non-slip surfaces are created for good grip, components are protected against the permeation of moisture, and buttons are made of contact-friendly materials.

Customer-specific special solutions for aviation and aerospace companies

No customer demands are impossible to solve for the Gevelsberg-based Beinlich Pumpen Company - whether dealing with skydrol or kerosene, whether dealing with air-tight sealing or explosion-proof areas, whether dealing with a high level of flow co-efficient at low pressure or low flow co-efficient at a high temperature. In the fields of aviation and aerospace, the company has produced the most varied of solutions – individually for the customer.

For example, a client wanted a pump that was both a transfer pump as well as a high-pressure pump for use with thin fluids and needed a supplier that does not only manufacture appliances in a tailor-made fashion, but also provides the know-how for future developments.

In this case, Beinlich was able to expand the appropriate transfer pump with a permanent magnet coupling and an ATEX motor from their affiliated company - DST - Permanent Magnetic Couplings - and then supply the customer with the product that was ready for installation. In this field of low-pressure systems, Beinlich is able to draw upon over 50 years of experience with regards to the construction of external toothed gear pumps. Special coating and material combination as well as the selection of the correct sealing materials have been successfully tested on long test tracks and, in this case, could effectively and cost-efficiently entered the task management phase.

When dealing with the high-pressure pump, the Development Department drew upon efficient radial piston pumps that have been self-developed and manufactured. In this pressure field, the high level of volume flow rate is implemented by constructing multiple levels upon a shaft: Four levels were integrated in order to convey 50 l/min at a level of 250 bar.

In addition to this, airtight magnet couplings were implements as shaft seals that guarantee fault-free and maintenance-free operation. This was due to the fact that the systems were to be used in an explosive area.

The product range of Beinlich Pumpen GmbH ranges from 0.1 to 2600 cc/rev at low-pressure levels and from 0.4 to 42 cc/rev at high-pressure levels. In doing so, various qualities of steel and stainless steel are used.

Flow Meter for AdBlue�

On the basis of the established VS series VSE has developed a flow meter for AdBlue�. Initially, the new flow meter is available in two sizes with flow ranges up to 40 l/min. and a measuring accuracy (linearity) of 0.5% of the measuring value, the repeat accuracy is less than 0.1 %.

Stainless steel is the only material being applied. Customized solutions for specific applications, e.g. filling pumps, can be realized within short delivery times.

AdBlue� is the registered trademark for the artificially synthesizedAUS32 (Aqueous Urea Solution 32.5%) and is used in a process called selective catalytic reduction (SCR) to reduce emissions of oxides of nitrogen from the exhaust of diesel vehicles.

AdBlue� is a registered trademark of the Verband der Automobilindustrie eV (VDA).

VS, EF and VHM Series have been certified by FM as intrinsically safe

Since October 2007, the VSE flow meter series VS, EF and VHM have been certified by FM as intrinsically safe.

This certification is an approval standard in the United States and Canada for equipment for hazardous locations and explosive atmospheres. The FM approval allows usage in hazardous locations according to designation “Class I Division 1, Groups A, B, C & D”.

Heat exchanger and bell housing with integrated cooler

With a complete series of oil water coolers as well as a wide selection of oil air coolers, HBE is able to cover almost all performance ranges for cooling stationary hydraulic systems.

The oil water coolers are available in tube bundle and plate cooler versions, and the oil air coolers can be installed with an optional integrated pump. In addition, bell housings with integrated coolers are now available for delivery for motor/pump combinations with outputs ranging from 0.55 to 22 and motor sizes ranging from 80 to 180.

Big dedication celebration at the Echterhage Group

In a two-day celebration, the companies of the Echterhage Group dedicated the new office and production building at H�nnestra�e 45 and celebrated the completion of the extensive remodeling and additions to the other buildings in the Neuenrade-K�ntrop Industrial Park.

As a prelude, there was a ceremonial reception on Friday night, the 21st of September, for customers of the corporate group. About 120 invited guests enjoyed the delicious buffet in an informal atmosphere, heard short speeches given by Ruth and J�rgen Echterhage, and listened to the sounds of the jazz duo consisting of Ludwig Kirchhoff-Stewens (saxophone) and J�rgen Nuffer (guitar). Of course, the guests were also able to get a close look at the new building.

Family & Friends Day

Even on the next day, tours, live music, and delicious food were the main activities. However, the main people involved were different the next day. During the "Family & Friends Day", employees of the HBE, VSE, DST, plakart, and Ecoplan companies were provided an opportunity to leisurely introduce their friends and family to their workplace and colleagues. Due to the best late summer weather possible, there was cake, grilled food, cold drinks, and numerous activities such as company tours, a merry-go-round for children, a human table soccer tournament, etc., etc., etc...

The undisputed highlight of the day was a raffle, with the main prize being a hot air balloon ride that could be taken immediately. Peter Suchanovs, a Beinlich employee, took his coworker Silke Majus with him to lofty heights. There were also BVB soccer tickets, sightseeing flights around the Sauerland region, and many more prizes to win.

There were also numerous hardworking helpers at the stands so that the employees of the corporate group could have the day off. The youths from the Oberes H�nnetal church group in particular were able to earn well that day as parking attendants and beverage stand servers. With the money they earned, they want to fly to the World Youth Day in Sydney next year. Furthermore, the flying youths from the neighboring air sports association “Luftsportvereins Sauerland e.V.”, the oldie team from SG Balve-Garbeck, and the Garbeck community of interest members also worked hard. We would like to thank all our helpers again.

Relocations at Echterhage Holding

After the move on May 18th of the administration division of DST Dauermagnet-SystemTechnik GmbH, the construction company ECO.PLAN as well as the Echterhage Holding Management into its recent premises, the new offices in the H�nnestra�e 45 are now completely occupied.

A few weeks earlier, the marketing agency plakart had moved into the first floor of the prestigious building, which is a real eye-catcher with its exceptional design and glass front.

A large meeting room and a comfortable welcome lounge with modern presentation technology are available for all companies. The design of the interior with love to the detail encourages a sustainable positive work atmosphere.

VSE Volumentechnik GmbH – now in H�nnestra�e 49

The previous company building from 2001 of the relocated companies in H�nnestra�e 49 is now the sole facility of VSE Volumentechnik GmbH.

Through the relocation, all companies of the Echterhage Group in Neuenrade have considerably extended their office and production facilities and may handle the continuing excellent order situation somewhat more relaxed.

VS 0.1E as Sleeve Bearing Version

From April 2007, the VS 0.1 type flow meter will be available with a hard metal sleeve bearing. As a result of numerous enquires and projects in the 2K sector for highly viscous and abrasive media with low outflow performance, initially the stainless steel version of the VS 0.1 will be furnished with an optional sleeve bearing.

The well-proven tungsten carbide bearing has been installed in the VHM series for a long time. Optional, the gear wheels can be coated with a solid film. Two tolerant classes for different viscosity ranges are available. Besides the high abrasion resistance and durability, the devices are very service reduced.

Of course, this VS type may be ordered with the new “High Definition” preamplifier or with protection safety barriers.

Additional Softex� coupling model series for drive technology

HBE has developed additional coupling models with the help of our new export partners in drive technology. The Softex� "ES" coupling models are free of rotational play and are made for spindle drives in machine tools or high speed tachometer drives, for example.

Softex� "TL" (Taper Lock) couplings allow fast replacement of a coupling when the shafts of the components to be connected have different diameters.

In the area of bell housings, HBE has developed a modular system for bell housings made of steel for drives subject to heavy weights or high vibrations and for offshore applications. HBE currently has no competition in this field due to their ability to deliver them in just a few days, which has resulted in full order books.

Cheerful Opening at IC Flow

IC Flow Controls, Inc. has relocated to its new facilities in the city of Normal, Illinois. At the traditional "Ribbon Cut Ceremony", J�rgen Echterhage, Managing Director of the Echterhage Group, and Tony Marsaglia, Manager of IC Flow, jointly cut the red ribbon at the entrance of the newly constructed building in front of numerous guests.

Mr. Chris Koos, town mayor, was delighted to welcome a new employer at the business site in Normal, which is located close to Chicago. Meanwhile, the team at the distribution company IC Flow consists of six employees. IC Flow provides distribution, application expertise, quality service and technical support for the Fluid Technology products of the German companies VSE, HBE, DST, Beinlich and R�telmann for the US market.

The newly constructed building of IC Flow provides enough space for administration facilities, warehouse and workshop and also for future expansion. An absolute advantage of the new location are the two renowned universities, which are located only a few steps away from the IC Flow headquarter. Maybe the prospective sales engineers at IC Flow currently get their education at one of the Universities?

To keep up with time Beinlich Pumpen GmbH revised its logo into "Beinlich Pump Systems". With the new one Beinlich Pump Systems focuses a new direction: international and thinking in systems. Its challenge is the ability to offer both end-user and OEM a solution. By system Beinlich means its possibility to handle a sub-system as a "plug and play" solution including pump, motor, flow-meter, (magnetic-)coupling and bell housing.

As its external gear dosing pumps are customised and application-made the customers have the advantage that Beinlich Pumpen can deliver a sub-system. New Accessories for VS Flow Meters

With immediate effect, VSE offers shut-off intermediate members for VS flow meters. The sandwich plates are screwed in-between the subplate and the flow meter. The integrated ball valves in the subplate enable the decommission or exchange of flow meters while the system filling and pressure are retained unchanged. An extensive discharge of the system and the installation of deflection plates can be avoided.

Advantages:

Cost reduction by reducing maintenance and downtime
Simplified commissioning of new facilities
Simplified decommission of flow meters in times of non-use, e.g. in uninterrupted test stands or calibration stands
High safety against unauthorised operation through demountable control keys

New Pick Up System and Optional Preamplifier for VSE Flow Meter Series VS

Since June 2006 all VSE Flow Meters of the VS Series are provided with a new GMR pickup system which replaces the differential field coils.

The advantage of the new system is the standardised power supply from 10 to 28 VDC for all types as well as the extended temperature range from - 40�C to 120�C.

Parallel to the new pickup system VSE has developed a new preamplifier. The VSI preamplifier is available as an option for all VS sizes which are equipped with the new GMR pickup system. The VSI preamplifier supplies digital signals with a higher resolution of the measured value. The resolution can be programmed between 4 and 64 angle steps and it enables a frequency multiplication up to factor 16. The K-factor of the flow meter can be increased up to factor 64.

With a high resolution, changes in flow can be measured much faster and more precisely. The readout receives more information about the current status of the flow, with better and faster analogue output. Even with smallest volumes, exact measurement, control and dosage are ensured. The new VSI preamplifier allows the usage of big size flow meters for applications with high viscous liquids at low flow rates.

Modular construction system ensures customer specific solutions

Beinlich Pumpen has more than 50 years of experience and know-how in the field of gear dosing and radial piston pumps. Over the past five years it has developed from being a simple hydraulic pump manufacturer into a specialist delivering customer-specific pump solutions.

The component assemblies of the high pressure radial piston pump product line have been re-designed to ensure the shortest possible delivery time in combination with the maximum flexibility.

Both the open and encased designs have been maintained in order to secure an optimal fluid supply and to avoid ventilation problems at tank installation.

Special solutions can now be produced with minimal design modifications. With extended shafts, for example, the maximum utilisation of oil tank volume can be achieved which allows for self ventilation. Beinlich also offers specially designed drive shafts.

Due to the increasing occurrence of specialist fluids, Beinlich now offers a wide range of seal materials, e.g. NBR, EPDM, FKM and PTFE. The shaft sealing can take the form of a shaft sealing ring, a mechanical seal or a maintenance-free magnetic coupling. Special materials are also used for piston elements and housings. For non-lubricating fluids special coating materials are applied. In all applications, however, the emphasis is on component design to achieve the rapid delivery times required by customers.

Through the star-shaped arrangement of the valve-regulated piston elements, two to eight piston assemblies can be installed. At present, piston elements of various calibres are available, each delivering a theoretical output between 0.14 to 1.34 cc per revolution.

Using a combination of piston elements, outputs from 0.3 to 10.7 cc/rev per pump star can be achieved. A parallel assembly of up to 5 stars provides many possible delivery volumes up to a maximum of 53.5 cc/rev. Smaller piston calibres reach a working pressure of 700 bar. Many applications require pumps with several pressure outlets. This is achieved through the modular construction of the pump. Pumps with up to 24 pressure ports have been successfully installed. Beinlich supplies these multi-pumps either with a casing or as an immersion pump without a casing.
